Engineer-In-Training (EIT)

What you will be doing

The purpose of the EIT role is to provide civil/environmental engineering support to Miller Environmental’s hazardous waste facility. Duties will be split between field work and office work and will mostly consist of planning, monitoring, and controlling ongoing waste treatment processes and/or civil construction projects.

 

  • Assist in the planning and construction of civil/environmental infrastructure such as HDPE lined waste repository cells, roadways, and process buildings.
  • Perform volume calculations for storage capacities and perform field measurements when required.
  • Manage project data using excel spreadsheets and provide reports to the project manager
  • Assist in the completion and review of safety paperwork prior to project start
  • Assist in logistical design and planning for receiving of inventory, as well as the design of the process for treating a particular waste stream.

What you need

  • Degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technologist – preferably in civil or environmental.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including report writing.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Experience using survey equipment such as a transit, total station, or GPS is considered an asset.
  • Experience working around heavy construction equipment and following safety protocols is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry and hazardous materials is considered an asset.
